The Saudi Ambassador to Beirut, Walid Bukhari, received several Lebanese delegations today at the "tent" of the embassy. The visits came in solidarity with the Kingdom following the offensive statements made by the resigned Minister of Foreign Affairs Charbel Wehbe. Ambassador Bukhari stated in a discussion with journalists, "What has earned the Kingdom respect from the international community is that it has one language and one political discourse, both publicly and privately, which has garnered it respect from both its opponents and allies." Bukhari also mentioned that he received a phone call from Minister Charbel Wehbe, in which Wehbe expressed his sincere and explicit apology for his comments during a televised interview and informed him that he would step down this morning. Bukhari emphasized that the Kingdom does not operate based on reactions and that there will be no deportation of Lebanese citizens from the Kingdom or Gulf countries. Yesterday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Lebanese ambassador to Riyadh to express the Kingdom's rejection and condemnation of the remarks made by the resigned Minister of Foreign Affairs, Charbel Wehbe.
