Barcelona announced on Tuesday that they have signed young defender Eric Garcia, who returns to his former club after leaving in 2017 at the age of 16. The Catalan club revealed that Garcia's contract extends for five years and will begin on July 1, after the end of his contract with Manchester City. Barcelona stated that the release clause in the player's contract is €400 million ($490 million). Garcia joins Sergio Aguero in leaving City just days after the team lost the Champions League final to join financially struggling Barcelona in a free transfer. Garcia will first join the Spanish national team roster for the European Championship.
