The Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced today, Wednesday, that the Knesset has elected former Labor Party leader and current head of the Jewish Agency Isaac Herzog as the President of Israel, succeeding Reuven Rivlin, whose term ended after seven consecutive years. Herzog competed for this position against social activist, education leader, and Israel Prize winner, Miri Regev. The eleventh president of Israel is set to assume office on July 9.
