Last Tuesday, Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was moved by a video showing four people saving a cat that was about to fall from the third floor of a building in the "Deira" area of Dubai. He quickly posted the video on his Twitter account along with a tweet praising what he called "acts of mercy" in Dubai, and he asked his 10.6 million followers to help locate them so he could thank them for their actions.
In his tweet published with the video, the Dubai ruler said, "The merciful are shown mercy by the Merciful... Proud and happy with every act of mercy in our beautiful city... Whoever knows them, please guide us to them so we can thank them." This tweet quickly garnered a lot of interaction, and the searchers were able to locate them the same day. Consequently, UAE media covered their story, and the following day, they published their pictures, which were shared by "Al Arabiya.net" based on a report from "Emarat Al Youm."
The newspaper reported that the cat was pregnant and at risk of death if not for the four individuals who caught it with cloth pieces, allowing it to jump to safety without harm. "Al Bayan" newspaper stated that the Dubai ruler "rewarded" the cat's rescuers with 50,000 dirhams each, equivalent to approximately 13,600 dollars, "for the act of mercy they performed," according to one of them, Moroccan property guard Ashraf Belinza. He was joined in the rescue by Nasir Arakal Muhammad, a driver, and a salesman named Mahmoud Nawaz Khan. The videographer and rescuer at the same time, Abdul Rasheed Koutout, who works at a grocery store in Deira, mentioned to the newspaper that he and his companions provided the cat with food, water, and full care.
