In Abu Dhabi: PayBy Electronic Payment App Approved for Taxis

The Integrated Transport Center in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced that taxi vehicles operating in the emirate will provide an electronic payment service through the PayBy app starting tomorrow, Sunday. This service offers an easy, secure, and convenient alternative to cash payments. It contributes to diversifying payment options available, enhances safety in passenger transport operations via the taxi fleet, improves service quality for users, and mitigates the risk of infection transmission amid current circumstances.

The payment process for the taxi fare via the PayBy app is smooth and easy. Upon reaching their destination, passengers can ask the driver to select the payment option by scanning the QR code displayed on the meter screen, and confirm the transaction by entering their password or using the face recognition feature on their smartphone. Both the driver and the passenger will receive a notification upon successful completion of the transaction.

Additionally, users with credit cards can add their cards to their PayBy account and make the payment when settling the fare. Those without credit cards can recharge their digital wallets through online bank cards or in cash at kiosks and pay via the PayBy app. To encourage passengers to use the PayBy app for taxi fare payments, PayBy will also distribute limited-time payment vouchers to users on the app, which can be used to pay for the fare. Furthermore, PayBy will provide incentives for taxi drivers to support the success of the electronic payment initiative.
