His Excellency President Bashar Al-Assad of the Syrian Arab Republic received His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in Damascus. During the meeting — attended by His Excellency Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria; His Excellency Mansour Fadlallah Azam, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic; His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State; and His Excellency Ali Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Border Security — the two sides discussed the bilateral relations between the UAE and Syria, emphasizing the importance of this visit in enhancing and developing joint cooperation across various fields to serve the mutual interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.
Both sides reviewed the developments in the Middle East and Syria, as well as a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, wishing the Syrian Arab Republic stability, progress, and prosperity.
In turn, President Bashar Al-Assad sent his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, wishing the UAE further development, prosperity, and welfare.
President Bashar Al-Assad reaffirmed the close brotherly relations between the two countries, commending the objective positions taken by the UAE. For his part, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the UAE's commitment to the security, stability, and unity of brotherly Syria and its support for all efforts aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis and establishing stability in the country to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people for development, progress, and prosperity.
