Member of the "Strong Republic" bloc, MP Ghada Ayoub, announced anticipation for President Joseph Aoun's signature on the amnesty law in the coming days. Ayoub emphasized that the law aims to deliver justice to a significant segment of citizens, expressing confidence in Aoun's commitment to national unity and doubting any intent to reject the law.
Ayoub, in an interview with MFM, voiced concern over the recent handling of the Iranian ambassador's residency issue, decrying it as a substantial regression. She questioned, "Is this how we build a state?" and expressed surprise at the situation, given the government's recent bold decisions.
Ayoub highlighted the excellent relationship between "The Forces" and the current administration, citing ongoing direct and indirect communication. She stated confidence in the alignment of the President and Prime Minister towards disarming efforts but criticized the handling approach and wasted time. According to Ayoub, the Lebanese state's best interest lies in definitively resolving disputes with Israel, advocating for peace without necessarily opening doors between the two nations.
Furthermore, Ayoub expressed concerns over potential delays in elections, citing a lack of decisive state action and warning of possible election postponements for 3 to 4 years. She insisted priority should lie in dismantling Hezbollah's arms to pave the way for a state-focused agenda.
Concluding, Ayoub stressed that "our next battle should focus on the 'Military Court,' which needs to prioritize its designated issues while facilitating the return of Lebanese exiles from Israel."
