Russia and Ukraine are engaging in discussions regarding a "significantly large" prisoner of war exchange, according to a report by the Russian news agency "TASS" citing the Human Rights Commissioner, Yana Lantratova, on Wednesday.
TASS reported that Russia and Ukraine are in talks about exchanging prisoners of war as part of ongoing humanitarian communications between the two countries. However, Kyiv has yet to confirm the accuracy of the Russian agency's claims.
Since the war began in February 2022, the two sides have exchanged thousands of prisoners.
An agreement reached last May for the exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each side was among the most tangible outcomes of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the United States.
