Under the title "After Salah's Statement: The Egyptian Fatwa House Comments on the Alcohol Debate," Sky News reported that following the controversial statements made by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah regarding drinking alcohol, the Egyptian Fatwa House published two posts on its official Facebook page.

In its first post on Sunday night, the Fatwa House stated, "The prohibition of drinking alcohol is established by the texts of the Quran and Sunnah and the consensus of Muslims," citing a Quranic verse and a prophetic hadith.

In a second post, the Fatwa House said, "If the sacred law has commanded us not to commit prohibitions, including drinking alcohol, this is also achieved by abandoning the prohibited thing and not intending to do it. A Muslim is exempt from the prohibition by leaving it and not intending it."

Many linked the Fatwa House's posts to the comments made by the Egyptian player during a television interview regarding his avoidance of alcohol. When Salah was asked about the reason for not drinking alcohol, he said he does not want to do so and has never wished to drink it. The statements of the Premier League top scorer stirred some controversy on social media platforms, with some seeing that he did not address the religious perspective on the matter.
