This year, the wishes of Lebanese children during Christmas have changed, becoming prisoners of the difficult economic situation. Their requirements have shifted from toys to jobs; the child who used to eagerly await this day to receive "their favorite toy" and enjoy "delicious food" has bid farewell to childhood this year, feeling the immense burden their parents carry to meet their needs.
It seems that Lebanese children have matured years and taken on the responsibility of bringing a smile to their family's face. In this regard, social media activists shared a letter from a Lebanese girl that captured the situation of most Lebanese people. In her letter to "Santa Claus," she asked him to help her father find work because he is unhappy, and for her mother to be in good health. The girl also wrote, "If you can tell Jesus that Lebanon is very tired."
Additionally, the girl asked "Santa Claus" for a toy, perhaps for her brother or friend Roni, because she knows her father will definitely not be able to buy one. This circulated letter resonates with the tragic situation of the majority of Lebanese people, and one social media activist commented, "The situation has become heartbreaking."
