New Crime Shakes Egypt: Son Murders Parents in Alexandria

The Criminal Investigation Department in Alexandria is conducting extensive investigations to apprehend an individual who allegedly slaughtered his parents inside their residence in the Al-Hadra area of Alexandria, before fleeing. According to Al-Ahram portal, the Director of Security in Alexandria, Major General Mahmoud Abu Omrah, received a report from the head of the Bab Sharqi police station regarding the discovery of two bodies of an elderly couple inside their apartment, both of whom were found slaughtered without any signs of forced entry, with their son (40 years old) suspected of the crime.

When officers from the police department arrived at the scene, they found the man and his wife slaughtered inside their apartment. Upon questioning the couple's daughter, she stated that she received a call from her brother's wife about a problem with her parents, mentioning that he had gone to them in a highly agitated and emotional state. Consequently, she sent her son to check on their grandparents after several attempts to contact both her parents and her brother went unanswered. She was shocked when her son informed her that their mother and father had been killed in the apartment.

Witnesses reported seeing their son (40 years old) leaving the house in the morning looking confused, and around noon, their grandson discovered the crime and rushed into the street to call for help. They added that their son frequently traveled abroad, while his wife used to stay with her parents, and they would often argue daily until the wife moved to a new rental apartment and separated from them.

One witness noted that the son had returned from abroad about four months ago and was in daily disputes with his parents over inheritance and rights to the apartment and a piece of land in another governorate. The mosque's Imam near the victims' home stated that the victim regularly prayed and was well-regarded by his neighbors. One neighbor mentioned that the incident occurred on Thursday morning when the son was in a different floor from his residence, specifically at 6 AM, appearing confused and wearing plastic gloves.

Later that afternoon, they heard the grandson of the deceased screaming in the street in front of the house, saying, “Grandpa and Grandma have been killed, and my uncle is the one who killed them.” The neighbor further noted that the accused son does not show any signs of drug addiction, contrary to what has circulated on social media. He had worked abroad for an extended period and returned to Alexandria months ago.

The Criminal Investigation Department at the Alexandria Security Directorate has formed a research team to apprehend the perpetrator and understand the reasons behind the crime while collecting evidence from the crime scene.
