Algerian official media reported that a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck areas in the Oran province, northwest of the country. The epicenter was located 12 kilometers north of the Kaddil area, according to reports from the Research Center in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics. Algerian television "Ennahar" quoted the civil protection authority of Oran province stating that the tremor did not cause any human casualties. Following the two aftershocks, houses in the Arzew area, located 40 kilometers east of Oran city, sustained damage according to civil protection.
