The White House: Biden Plans to Reset Relations with Saudi Arabia

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki stated that President Joe Biden intends to reset U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia. Jen revealed in comments made yesterday, Tuesday, that the U.S. president will directly communicate with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz rather than Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Jen Psaki affirmed: "We have made it clear from the beginning that we will reset our relationship with Saudi Arabia." Her remarks indicated a surprising shift in the political direction that former President Donald Trump had taken, who had his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner closely connected with the Saudi crown prince. In response to questions about Biden speaking with the Saudi crown prince, Psaki said that Biden would return to communication "at the peer level" and clarified, "The counterpart to the president is King Salman, and I expect that he will speak with him in due time," although she did not specify when exactly.

Psaki also explained that "Saudi Arabia has urgent needs to defend itself, and the United States will work with the Saudis on this matter even as we clarify our points of difference and concerns. This certainly differs from the previous administration."
