British Newspaper: New Strain of Coronavirus Emerges

Doctors from the Public Health Agency in England have announced the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in Britain. The "Mirror" newspaper reported, citing specialists, that "so far, 16 cases of the B.1.621 variant have been identified across the country, most of which are linked to travel abroad," according to the "Russia Today" website on Saturday.

The newspaper stated that doctors at the Public Health Agency (PHE) are now conducting tests on this new coronavirus variant (SARS-CoV-2) to better understand the impact of the mutation on the virus's behavior.

It is still uncertain whether the B.1.621 strain reduces the effectiveness of vaccines, according to the newspaper.

Currently, the Delta variant of the coronavirus, first discovered in India, remains the most widespread variant in the world.
