Alan Shearer, the Newcastle United legend, believes Muhammad Salah, the Liverpool star, is the best player in the world and has been wronged in the Ballon d'Or selections. Salah, who leads the Premier League scorers this season with 13 goals, alongside scoring 20 goals for the Reds in all competitions, came in seventh place in the 2021 Ballon d'Or list compiled by "France Football," which was awarded to Messi for the seventh time in his career, surpassing Robert Lewandowski.
Shearer spoke about Salah to "The Athletic," stating, "Muhammad Salah is the best player in the world right now, the best scorer and player, point blank." He added, "The little magician spreads his magic in the best league in the world, doing so against the best teams."
He explained, "In big matches, whether against Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, Atletico Madrid, or Milan, week after week and year after year, Salah performs magically. How could he come in seventh place in the Ballon d'Or voting or anyone's guess?"
He concluded, "There is an obsession with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, which is understandable given their dominance in modern times, but if you gave me the choice of any player on my team, it would be Salah."
