Muqtada al-Sadr Calls for Disbanding "Outlawed Militias"

Muqtada al-Sadr Calls for Disbanding

Leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called through a tweet on Twitter for consolidating weapons within the state's control and disbanding outlawed militias in Iraq. Al-Sadr pointed out that what happened in Basra were political explosions, where 4 people were killed and at least 4 others were injured on Tuesday due to a car bomb explosion in the city of Basra, southern Iraq. He also warned that some parties are trying to drag Iraq into danger due to their pursuit of more parliamentary seats. At the same time, Al-Sadr affirmed that the "national majority government" will work to combat corruption, regardless of the perpetrator, and will not spare anyone. In his tweet, Al-Sadr noted that the explosions in Basra "indicate the spread of corruption in the state’s institutions, which increases our determination to fight corruption in all its forms, regardless of the perpetrator and their affiliation."
