A bear attacked three people in Odisha, India, killing them within 24 hours. According to The Times of India, the incident occurred in the village of Samar Singh in western Odisha on July 17. One villager went into the forest to collect firewood but did not return home. His relatives and a friend decided to go into the forest to search for him. However, they were also attacked by the bear; two of them managed to climb a tree and save themselves, while the bear tore the other two apart. It seems that the bear also killed the first person. Indian authorities have promised to pay 400,000 rupees to the families of the victims (just over 5,000 USD).
