Sources indicate that the main reason for the failure to convene the Higher Judicial Council yesterday was due to a dispute between council president Judge Suhail Aboud and his deputy, Prosecutor General Ghassan Owaidat. The disagreement arose over the inclusion of a letter sent to the council by a group of lawyers from "The People Want to Reform the System" and "The State Restoration Gathering," requesting the prosecution of the Director-General of Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Osman, on the agenda, without the knowledge of Judge Owaidat, who firmly rejected the matter. This led to the collapse of the meeting.
