A child died by strangulation inside his family's home in Atfeeh. Investigations led by Major General Medhat Faris, director of the General Department of Giza Investigations, revealed that the child died while playing with his cousins using a rope tied to the ceiling as a swing. During the play, the rope wrapped around his neck, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious, ultimately resulting in his death.
Panic and Horror Among Cousins
Panic and horror overtook the cousins accompanying the 5-year-old boy from Atfeeh. The children's screaming echoed as the boy's mother rushed him, along with others, to Atfeeh Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Severe redness around his neck indicated he had been strangled. The boy’s parents stated he died while playing with his cousins without adult supervision, and while sitting on the swing, he lost his balance, leading to the tragic incident.
The Child Died While Playing on the Swing
Investigations overseen by Major General Alaa Fathy, the Director of Criminal Investigations, concluded there were no suspicions of foul play in the child’s death. The child died during play with other children. A police team visited the family’s home to inspect the swing involved in the incident. It was found that the rope was attached to the living room ceiling, and the children were using it as a swing; however, it wrapped around the child's neck when he lost his balance.
Autopsy of the Child's Body
The child's cousins, aged between 5 and 7, stated, “Mohamed was playing with us, and the rope got wrapped around his neck when he fell off the swing.” A report was filed after the inspection and statements from the child's family were taken. The public prosecutor was notified of the incident and ordered an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. The prosecutor also tasked the police with further investigations into the incident and summoned the child’s parents and aunt for questioning.
