Samir Zero: Mohamed Salah Had Only 10 Pounds to Return Home

Social media users circulated an old photo of Mohamed Salah and his teammates waiting for a train at a railway station during their time playing for Egypt's Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab. Samir Zero, a friend of the Liverpool star, spoke about the story behind the famous photo of Salah and his teammates at a train station.

In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper "Al-Watan," Zero mentioned that the photo was taken while they were traveling to Asyut Governorate to face the Petrojet team, captured on the platform of Ramses train station in preparation for their trip to Asyut.

Zero explained that this photo was taken in 2006, noting that they were at the beginning of their careers and none of them had much money, just enough to get home, saying: "We had very minimal expenses; less than 10 pounds to get home."

He pointed out that after this match, which ended with their victory or a draw, Salah couldn't return home because they arrived in Cairo late at night. Salah stayed overnight with his friend Ahmed Saad since he couldn't return to his village in the Gharbia Governorate.

Zero asserted that they never expected Mohamed Salah to reach such heights, praising his dedication: "He has always worked on himself to be in a respectable place, and God has rewarded him greatly." He emphasized Salah's humility and his continuous communication with his teammates, helping them and always attending their celebrations.

He added: "Salah was the calmest one in the group. He was always respectful, and we were with Basem Morsi, Basem Renga, Ahmed Saad, and Elneny. Mohamed Salah checks on us and talks to us. Initially, there was constant communication, but it has become a bit difficult. However, he still helps, and anyone who speaks to him or we contact him, he responds immediately."
