Apple is working on incorporating several health features into its devices, such as heart rate, sleep, stress tracking, and other vital statistics. Now, the company plans to introduce a body temperature measurement feature for iPhones.
A patent application titled "Camera Attachment and Image Data Processing for Temperature Measurement" has revealed that Apple is investing in camera technology that would enable an iPhone to analyze images to determine the temperature of objects.
The patent states, "Due to the nature of smartphone proliferation everywhere, the accessory can convert the smartphone into a temperature measurement device and provide easily accessible measurements."
The patent image shows an arrangement of lenses and components that make up the accessory. It seems that Apple is planning to add a method for measuring temperature using an iPhone, and this innovative technology will not be an integral part of the iPhone itself, but rather an add-on when needed. For example, in some models, a camera accessory with a frame configured to connect to the camera is provided.
The frame is described as the part that will hold all the necessary technologies for temperature determination, and it includes a temperature-reactive material coupled with the frame, which is designed to place this material within the camera's field of view.
Apple's watch has also been used by medical professionals to assist them in their work and to track patient health. Similarly, this temperature measurement accessory that the company plans to add appears to be something that could make the whole process easier, according to Phone Arena.
