Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced that the Kingdom will reopen its embassy in Doha "within days."
According to Al Arabiya TV today, Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated that the Kingdom will reopen its embassy in Doha "within days." This month, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt agreed during the "Al-Ula Summit" to restore diplomatic and commercial relations and travel links that were severed with Qatar in 2017.
In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt announced the severing of relations with Qatar, accusing it of destabilizing the region, getting close to Iran, and supporting opposing Islamist movements, which Doha categorically denies.
On January 5 of this year, the 41st Gulf Summit was held in Al-Ula, northwestern Saudi Arabia, with the attendance of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who participated for the first time since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis. The summit convened the day after Kuwait announced that Saudi Arabia and Qatar reached an agreement to reopen airspace and land and sea borders between the two countries, in addition to addressing the repercussions of the Gulf crisis.
