The economic crisis is worsening day by day amid the continuous collapse of the national currency and the absence of solutions, while waiting for the launch of the national recovery plan, which is also suspended until the return of order to constitutional institutions and the commencement of necessary reforms. Meanwhile, numerous social groups are becoming marginalized and impoverished, as the crisis weighs heavily on them, especially security and military forces.
The suffocating financial crisis and the near-total collapse of the national currency have unfortunately become reasons for the escape of hundreds of military personnel, with others being forced to work outside the military framework, contrary to military institution laws, which will lead to dual loyalty.
In light of this dangerous reality, and since security institutions are the last refuge guaranteeing the citizen and the homeland, it has become urgent to protect their members entrusted with national security. MTV has learned that independent MP Ghassan Skaf is preparing a legislative initiative aimed at protecting and supporting these individuals by proposing a law to establish a special financial fund for military and security personnel. MTV has also learned that Skaf has met with security leaders, including Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, Director General of Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Osman, Director General of General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim, and Director General of State Security Major General Tony Saliba, to inform them about this initiative. Skaf will conduct communications and visits to supportive countries and organizations for the fund after the law is approved.
