UAE Announces Penalty for Possession of Proceeds from Drug Crimes

The Public Prosecution in the UAE clarified the penalty for acquiring funds and other crimes related to drug trafficking and dealings. It pointed out that "according to Article 65 of the Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021, concerning the fight against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances," the legal provision states that anyone who possesses, conceals, or conducts any transaction with money, provided there is sufficient evidence or indications that it was obtained as a result of committing any of the crimes stipulated in this decree-law, shall be punished with imprisonment and a fine of no less than 100,000 dirhams. This information is published as part of the ongoing campaign by the Public Prosecution to enhance legal culture among members of society, disseminate all updated and recent legislation, and raise public awareness of the law, aiming to promote a culture of law as a way of life.
