Snapchat continues to grow, as the social network announced on Thursday that it has reached 500 million monthly users, thanks to the increasing popularity of the app in India during the pandemic. It also revealed new internet-connected glasses.
Evan Spiegel, the CEO of the American group, noted during the annual Snapchat conference presenting its innovations that the platform, favored by teenagers and young adults, recorded a 100% increase in daily users in India over the past year, during the last five quarters, since the health crisis began.
Although about 40% of Snapchat users are outside of North America and Europe, both regions still hold significant importance for the app.
Evan Spiegel stated, "In the United States, France, the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands, Snapchat has become an essential part of people's lives. The app is relied upon by 90% of those aged 13 to 24 and 75% of those aged 13 to 34."
