Russian Sells Nobel Peace Medal to Help Ukrainian Children

Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov, who won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, sold his medal for $103.5 million at an auction on Monday to raise funds for displaced children affected by the war in Ukraine. Heritage Auctions, which conducted the auction, stated that the purchase price of Muratov's medal would support the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in its efforts to assist homeless children in Ukraine. Muratov, the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, which strongly criticizes the Kremlin, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 alongside Maria Ressa from the Philippines.
