Decision to Prohibit Bulgur Importation

The Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, Deputy George Bouzkian, has issued Decision No. 1/52 prohibiting the import of bulgur except with prior permission from the Minister of Industry.

The decision states: "The Minister of Industry;

Based on Decree No. 8376 dated 2021/09/10 (Formation of the Government),

Based on Law No. 642 dated 1997/06/02 (Establishment of the Ministry of Industry),

Based on Decree No. 13173 dated 1998/10/08 (Regulation of the Ministry of Industry and Definition of its Staff),

And based on national responsibility and in order to preserve the elements of food security and national production,

Based on the proposal of the Director General of the Ministry of Industry,

Decides the following:

Article One: The import of bulgur is prohibited except with a permit issued by the Minister of Industry.

Article Two: This decision shall be published and shall come into effect from the date of its publication and must be communicated to those concerned.

It is to be communicated to:

- The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers - Official Gazette

- The Ministry of Economy and Trade

- The Ministry of Agriculture

- The Higher Customs Council

- The General Directorate of Customs

- The Association of Lebanese Industrialists

- The Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Lebanon

- The Syndicate of Food Industries Owners in Lebanon

- The Central and Regional Interests of the Ministry of Industry.
