The intensity of competition in Silicon Valley never fades. Recently, Apple hired the public relations director from the augmented reality unit Oculus, part of Meta (formerly Facebook), ahead of the upcoming launch of its AR headset next year. The tech giant is also attempting to retain its talents by offering substantial stock bonuses to some engineers. According to Bloomberg, Apple has issued "extraordinary and large stock bonuses," which the report states "ranged from $50,000 to $180,000 in some cases."
According to insiders, this type of compensation is not common at Apple, where employees typically receive a base salary, stock, and a cash bonus. They noted that these are "atypical" bonuses awarded to about 10% to 20% of engineers in applicable departments.
Looking closely, it is evident that the Apple Car project has lost senior executives and workforce. Furthermore, Apple’s push for employees to return to the office has sparked considerable controversy amid ongoing pandemic developments. However, Apple has changed its plans for returning employees to the office soon, and it has also started closing some of its stores in the United States.
It seems that the company is increasingly focusing on its talent, as Apple has some ambitious projects to unveil in the coming years, such as the AR headset, Mixed Reality headset, and Apple Car.
