Telecommunications Minister in the caretaker government, Johnny Al-Qarm, stated: "I made the decision to increase the communication tariff starting from July 1 due to problems with suppliers." He continued in a radio interview: "There is no room for any interest to continue operating at the rate of 1500 Lira under these circumstances." He affirmed: "The government's plan is neither final nor complete, and banks must bear the majority of the losses." He noted that "salaries of employees account for 10 percent, and income has decreased to 22 percent; the telecommunications sector is the first sector for the state to raise funds, and the average subscriber pays 1.88 dollars per month."
