Russian Record Falls as Angelika Sidorova Shines

Russian athlete Angelika Sidorova has won the gold medal in the pole vault event at the ongoing Russian Athletics Championship in Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash Republic. Sidorova, who previously won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, claimed first place by clearing the bar at a height of 4.70 meters. The silver medal went to her compatriot Polina Knoroz, who cleared 4.65 meters, while the bronze medal was awarded to Elizaveta Bondarenko with a height of 4.45 meters. After securing her gold medal, 31-year-old Angelika Sidorova successfully cleared the bar at 4.91 meters, breaking the Russian Championship record previously held by the legendary Yelena Isinbayeva, which had stood since 2016 by a single centimeter.
