The Demarcation: Fear of a Weak Lebanese Position

Paul Marqus, the head of the "Justicia" rights organization, expressed his concern that the Lebanese position on the maritime border demarcation issue might be weak from a negotiating standpoint. This weakness is not only due to mistakes in the demarcation topic but also because all political negotiators lack a unified vision based on data and coordinates. Additionally, there is a lack of the necessary transparency to address the Lebanese citizens on this sovereign and strategic issue and to answer their legitimate concerns resulting from the absence of trust between the people and the authority. Consequently, every informed Lebanese citizen feels compelled to study the maritime lines, oil field locations, and specifications under international sea law, as he stated in an interview with "Al-Anbaa."
