Liverpool Defeats Manchester City and Wins the Community Shield

Liverpool crowned themselves champions of the Community Shield by defeating Manchester City 3-1 in the match held today, Saturday, in Leicester. Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold scored Liverpool's first goal in the 21st minute with a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. Argentine Julian Alvarez equalized for Manchester City in the 70th minute.

Seven minutes before the end of regular time, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's second goal from a penalty awarded after Manchester City's defender, Ruben Dias, handled the ball. As the match was nearing its end, new signing Darwin Nunez scored the third goal in the third minute of stoppage time with a header.

With this victory, Liverpool secured the Community Shield title for the 16th time in their history, making them the third most successful team in the competition after Manchester United (17 times) and Arsenal (15 times). This is the first time Liverpool has won the trophy since 2006.
