Iranian Revolutionary Guard Leader Killed in Syria

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the death of one of its advisors in Deir ez-Zor province, eastern Syria, and blamed Israel for the assassination. A statement from the Revolutionary Guard forces in Alborz province, northern Iran, reported that "advisor Behrouz Wahidi," from the Quds Force and a member of the Basij militia in Karaj city, died early Tuesday morning due to an Israeli airstrike in the Deir ez-Zor area.

Iranian state media had previously announced Wahidi's death in the attack that targeted the city of Al-Bukamal in Deir ez-Zor province last night. The news agency "Daneshju," close to the conservative faction, cited an informed source stating that "Iranian military advisor Behrouz Wahidi was killed as a result of airstrikes that hit eastern Syria last night."

Syrian news sources reported that more than 30 people were killed, including senior leaders and members of militias linked to the Revolutionary Guard, following intense air raids on targets in Deir ez-Zor and its countryside. Some news sources reported that the number of casualties from Iranian factions reached 13, while others stated that it was 9. According to the website "Deir ez-Zor 24," the airstrikes caused serious injuries to a leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard known as "Hajj Askar."

The "Ain al-Furat" network revealed that the airstrikes targeted a villa designated for some leaders of Iranian factions in the Al-Qusour neighborhood of the city, adding that the raids resulted in fatalities and injuries, including civilians, while the factions prevented rescue teams from entering the targeted area before moving them to the military hospital in the city.

Local sources confirmed that one of the airstrikes targeted the villa of Dr. Abdul Moneim Shihab, which is considered a headquarters for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, located in the villa area opposite the presidency of Al-Furat University in Deir ez-Zor, killing 3 members of the Revolutionary Guard and injuring 7 others. Additionally, a civilian, engineer "Imad Shihab," was killed, and others, including children and women, were wounded. Engineer Imad Shihab was a civilian whose house is located next to his brother Dr. Abdul Moneim's, which had been seized by the factions earlier and turned into their headquarters, according to "Asharq News."
