The extraction of oil may represent an important entry point to emerge from the crisis. Here, the question arises about the fate of border demarcation negotiations. Economic expert Antoine Farah indicates that this issue remains unclear so far, despite information that sometimes speaks of optimism and at other times of pessimism regarding this path. However, there is a glimmer of hope that European countries and the world may need to focus efforts on extracting gas from the Mediterranean basin. Perhaps this moment could serve as a stroke of luck for the border demarcation under international pressure, which could facilitate the extraction of gas required by Europe due to the war in Ukraine. Nevertheless, even if we successfully extract gas, unless we embark on reforms, sign with the IMF, and change the political landscape, and reintegrate Lebanon into the Arab world and the international community, efforts to fix the economy or exit the crisis would be in vain, as it will persist whether we extract gas or not.
