Will Aoun Set a Date for Consultations Next Thursday?

While awaiting the completion of the election of parliamentary committees and their rapporteurs next Tuesday, there are currently no indicators confirming or denying whether President Michel Aoun will set a date for parliamentary consultations immediately after the legislative process is completed. This was indicated by informed political circles to "Al-Anbaa" electronic news, which reported from close sources that President Aoun is described as "not in a hurry" to set a date for the mandatory parliamentary consultations "before agreeing on the name of the next Prime Minister." Meanwhile, news reports are circulating that the consultations could be next Thursday.

Following political sources linked in a call with "Al-Anbaa," they drew a connection between the stance calling for a prior agreement on the name of the designated Prime Minister and the "disruptive in substance, though seemingly calming" position of Hezbollah, expressed by Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, who urged political forces to reach an agreement on the Prime Minister. However, he simultaneously conditionally requires the subject of the party's weapons to be excluded from any discussion before the two-year period referenced recently by the party's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah expires.
