Iran Launches "Largest Gas Refinery in the Middle East" at a Cost of $3.4 Billion

Iran Launches

Today, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the "Bid Boland" gas refinery in the city of Behbahan (in Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran), which is the largest natural gas refinery in the Middle East.

In a video speech during the inauguration ceremony, Rouhani stated, "This great project will be inaugurated on the day when those who claim they will bring Iran to its knees and bend the proud Iranian nation against tyranny and bullying depart." He emphasized that "those who conspired and plotted to overthrow Iran were not expecting the opening of this great project one day," according to the Iranian news agency "IRNA."

The refinery's executive director explained that "this refinery, which embodies the power of the Islamic Republic and the competence of Iranian specialists, was built in just 36 months, with an investment cost of 3 billion and 400 million dollars." He added that the "Bid Boland" gas refinery is capable of attracting all associated gas from crude oil in three provinces: Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad (southwest), and Bushehr (south), and then converting it into useful gas. He noted that the construction of the "Bid Boland" refinery required over 1,000 km of gas transportation pipelines, making it currently the third-largest project in the world.
