The FIFA Club World Cup 2020 will take place in Doha, Qatar, from February 1 to 11. The International Football Association (FIFA) has made a new decision regarding the number of substitutions that participating clubs can make during the tournament.
FIFA stated in an official announcement: "Teams participating in the Club World Cup will be allowed to make five substitutions per match. To avoid frequent interruptions in play, each team will have only three opportunities to make these five changes, in addition to the possibility of making substitutions during the halftime interval."
FIFA also clarified in its statement that the additional substitution rule will be tested in cases of head injury or suspected head injury. Notably, the teams qualified so far for the Club World Cup are: Auckland City, African champions Al Ahly, European champions Bayern Munich, Asian champions Ulsan Hyundai, and CONCACAF champions Tigres UANL, while the team from South America will be determined in the Copa Libertadores final.
