Amazon Bans 600 Chinese Brands Due to Fake Reviews

Reports indicate that the American e-commerce giant "Amazon.com" has banned over 600 Chinese brands across 3,000 stores due to incidents of publishing fake product reviews. The Verge reported a spokesperson for Amazon stating that these banned Chinese brands significantly violate Amazon's policies, particularly those related to the abuse of reviews and comments. The list of banned brands includes Aukey, Mpow, RavPower, Vava, TaoTronics, and Chuteock. The South China Morning Post referenced this ban citing Cindy Tai, Amazon's Vice President for International Sales in the Asia region. Amazon initiated a campaign against fake and incentivized reviews after Nicola Nguyên published a report in The Wall Street Journal detailing how companies like RavPower offered gift cards in exchange for positive reviews of their products. Amazon has prohibited the posting of paid or incentivized reviews on its platform since 2016. However, marketers continued to employ this banned method by making covert offers to reviewers.
