The governmental outlook remains bleak, and it is likely that there will be no solutions or government formation during the current term, as the issue has been postponed until after the election of a new president. The current ministers continue to carry out their duties normally. Regarding the presidential issue, matters have not yet intensified, as the constitutional deadline for calling the Parliament to elect a president has not been opened. When that time comes, names will be strongly proposed, and each party will present its cards.
While movements in Bencheiri have begun and rounds of discussions are ongoing between Ain al-Tineh and the Dar al-Iftaa, other candidates have yet to take any steps, particularly MP Gibran Bassil, who is awaiting the political path and Hezbollah's position specifically to determine his course of action, knowing that there is no political support from other parties for his ascent.
On the front of the new blocs in Parliament and reformist MPs, the atmosphere remains clouded and the situation unclear. However, MP Adeeb Abdul-Masih revealed to "An-Nabaa" the possibility that the independent reformist blocs might nominate a candidate for the presidency, with several names under consideration. Abdul-Masih expects Speaker Nabih Berri to delay calling for an electoral session, but believes the delay will not be long, and the scenario will not be similar to what happened in 2014. He believes a session will be held, although there may be obstruction as well.
In this context, Abdul-Masih emphasized that there should be no talk of a vacuum and that a figure should not be elected who would renew suffering for an additional six years. Regarding government formation, Abdul-Masih ruled out any cabinet establishment before the end of the term. The country is entering a transitional phase in the coming weeks, making it challenging to determine the course of events as developments unfold, all while awaiting the decisive station with the end of the term at the end of October.
