COVID-19 Surge in France and Italy

French Health Minister François Braun announced that the daily COVID-19 infection count in the country "will exceed two hundred thousand." Braun stated during a session in the National Assembly regarding a law on health safety: "The seventh wave of the pandemic has seen an increase in recent days," noting that "we recorded an average of about 120,000 cases per day in the past week, and the daily count is expected to exceed two hundred thousand this evening." Meanwhile, Italy recorded over 100,000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.
