Three fishermen from South Africa wrestled with a giant blue marlin, which is considered the largest fish of all time, and managed to catch it during a 6-day fishing trip in the Cape Verde Islands. The fishermen battled the massive fish for about 30 minutes before they succeeded in bringing it aboard their boat and returning to the dock. The huge fish weighs 1,370 pounds, making it appear more like something from a science fiction movie than a real animal. Upon their return, the fishermen weighed the fish and found that, despite its size, it was not the largest ever caught in the waters. The marlin was 32 pounds lighter than the current IGFA All Tackle world record holder, which weighed 1,402 pounds and was caught in Brazil in 1992. The fishermen worked to slaughter the fish and distributed its meat to the local residents, with the belief that there would be enough meat to feed many families for days, if not weeks.
