Hoekstein to Lebanon on Monday... and a Statement from the U.S. State Department

The U.S. State Department said that the United States will send an envoy to Lebanon next week to discuss the country's energy crisis and reaffirm Washington's hope that Beirut and Israel can reach a decision on delineating their maritime borders. The State Department's statement mentioned that Amos Hoekstein, the senior advisor to the State Department for Energy Security, will visit Lebanon on June 13 and 14. Washington began mediating indirect talks over the disputed maritime borders between Israel and Lebanon in 2020. The statement added that "the administration welcomes the consultative and candid spirit of both parties to reach a final decision that will lead to greater stability, security, and prosperity for both Lebanon and Israel and the region."
