Major Dispute Between the Army and "Lebanese Forces" Students

A major dispute occurred between the army and "Lebanese Forces" students at the Lebanese University in Jal el-Dib following the removal of a licensed photo of the late President Bashir Gemayel by students from the "Free Patriotic Movement" and the hanging of a banner in its place. A confrontation broke out between the army and the students, during which the students were beaten with sticks. A faculty member intervened to prevent their arrest, and the students sought refuge inside the university.
