Schools Closed on Monday Due to Polling Center Use

Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi requested in a circular to the officials of high schools, schools, and public institutes to close them from the morning of Thursday, May 12, 2022, until the evening of Monday, May 16, 2022. He mentioned that the school or institute director can, if necessary, compensate students for the days of closure due to the use of some of their buildings as polling centers for the parliamentary elections. Halabi emphasized the need for the school or institute director, or their designated representative, to be present at the building by seven in the morning on May 14, 2022, until the electoral process concludes to facilitate the work of the polling heads and clerks, as well as to allow entry for the personnel appointed by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities to the polling centers and to take necessary measures to protect the school's assets and supplies.
