The General Directorate of Passports in Saudi Arabia has begun extending the validity of residence permits for expatriates currently outside the kingdom, as well as extending the validity of visit visas and exit and re-entry visas. This extension is being done automatically, free of charge, until the date of 21 Shawwal 1442 AH, corresponding to June 2, 2021 AD, in compliance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In a statement released today, the Passports Directorate mentioned that this extension, issued by the Minister of Finance, is part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Kingdom's government to address the repercussions and effects of the global pandemic (COVID-19), as well as part of the precautionary measures and preventive strategies to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and to help mitigate the economic and financial impacts.
The Passports Directorate confirmed that the extension will be done automatically in cooperation with the National Information Center, without the need for individuals to visit the passport offices, as follows:
First: Extension of the validity of residence permits and exit and re-entry visas for residents currently outside the kingdom from countries where entry has been suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus, until the date of 21 Shawwal 1442 AH, correspondingly June 2, 2021 AD.
Second: Extension of the validity of visit visas for visitors currently outside the kingdom from countries where entry has been suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus, until the date of 21 Shawwal 1442 AH, correspondingly June 2, 2021 AD.
