U.S. Sanctions on Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, and Russian Entities

The United States announced on Monday the imposition of sanctions on Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, and Russian entities. The sanctions targeted the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, the Iraqi Hezbollah group, and the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, in addition to Syrian institutions. The U.S. State Department stated that those sanctioned violated the arms embargo related to Iran, Syria, and North Korea. The sanctions included two Syrian institutions linked to Wael Issa and Ayman al-Sabbagh. It is worth noting that the sanctions against the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, and certain Syrian individuals fall under the "Non-Proliferation Sanctions" from the "Bureau of Global Security and Arms Control" at the U.S. State Department. Sanctions were also imposed on the Russian research and production institution "Pulsar," the Russian aircraft leasing company "Green Light Moscow," and the Russian company "Asia Invest." The U.S. administration published the notice of sanctions on Monday in the federal register, while the document shows that the decision was made on July 29.
