Meghan Markle's Legal Battle Ends with Surprising Compensation

After a lengthy legal battle, American Meghan Markle, wife of British Prince William, received only a token compensation. "Sky News Arabia" reported that Markle will receive the sum of just one British pound as compensation for the damage incurred, following her lawsuit against the "Mail on Sunday" newspaper. The Duchess of Sussex filed a case against the newspaper, accusing it of misusing private information and invading her privacy after it published parts of a letter she sent to her father.

The amount was specified in court documents, which confirmed that the newspaper and its website acknowledged losing the case and would not appeal to the Supreme Court. However, Meghan Markle, who stepped back from royal duties with her husband due to family disputes about a year ago, is expected to receive a "significant" amount from the newspaper.

The judges stated that another newspaper, "Associated," must pay the costs of a different case amounting to 300 pounds. This case revolves around the publication of five articles that republished parts of Meghan Markle's letter to her father from four years ago. Markle sued the newspaper, which lost the case last December and attempted to appeal, but the competent court rejected that appeal. The court stated, "These contents were personal and private and not matters of legitimate public interest."
