The Testing Institute for Goods and Products stated that WLAN wireless headphones can replace old sound systems and speakers after the German authority tested 13 devices in this category. The German magazine "Test," affiliated with the authority, explained that the test results showed that 11 wireless headphones had "good" sound quality, while two models were rated "very good." Five models received a "good" rating overall, and eight models were classified as "acceptable."
It is noteworthy that wireless headphones do not come with a remote control; instead, they are controlled via an application from the manufacturer that is installed on a smartphone or tablet.
Additionally, wireless headphones provide only mono sound. However, some companies offer what is known as internal stereo sound, where multiple speakers are installed in the wireless headphone to create actual stereo sound. Yet, users must be close to the headphone to enjoy the quality of stereo sound.
Wireless headphones allow users to connect two headphones of the same model through a smartphone application, referred to as "stereo pairing." This function is available in nearly all the wireless headphones tested, which also applies to the Multiroom function, allowing music to be played in multiple rooms simultaneously and without any delay.
The German authority indicated that while wireless headphones can replace sound systems, they must be connected to a power outlet. If a user wishes to use wireless headphones on the go, they can rely on Bluetooth headphones, which typically come in smaller sizes with lower sound quality and a rechargeable battery.
The authority noted that the Sonos Five topped the WLAN wireless headphone test results, followed by the Bowers & Wilkins Flex in second place, and Yamaha Musiccast 20 in third. The Denon Home 250 and the Harman Kardon Citation 500, the only model equipped with a voice assistant function, received a "good" rating.
