U.S. President Joe Biden launched a fierce attack on his predecessor Donald Trump and his supporters on Thursday. In a speech directed at "the American nation" from Philadelphia, Biden described his predecessor Trump as "a threat to democracy and the foundations of our republic."
Biden stated that "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the foundations of our republic," referring to Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again (MAGA)." The Democratic president added that "equality and democracy are under attack" in the United States.
He continued: "We the people are the true heirs of the American experiment," adding: "We are not weak in the face of threats to our democracy, and America must choose to move forward or go backward."
