Mohamed Salah Sets New Record

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah of Liverpool FC has matched the record held by Jamie Vardy for scoring in 15 consecutive Premier League matches, after netting the second goal in the match against Newcastle, which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Reds during the 17th round of the English Premier League. Salah continues to amass impressive personal statistics. He has also become the first player in Premier League history to score in five consecutive matches at Anfield against Newcastle United.

Since the start of the season, Salah has contributed to 24 goals (scoring 15 and assisting 9), making him the second highest goalscorer after Alan Shearer in the 1994-95 season with 25 goals (16 scored and 9 assisted).

Salah continues to make history with Liverpool in the Premier League after scoring during the team's 3-1 victory against Newcastle on Thursday in the 17th phase of the competition. Liverpool’s points tally reached 40, placing them second in the league standings, one point behind the current champions Manchester City, while Newcastle remains in 19th place with only 10 points, suffering their ninth loss this season alongside one victory and seven draws.

Newcastle took an early lead with a surprise goal from Jonjo Shelvey in the seventh minute, but Portuguese player Diogo Jota equalized for Liverpool in the 21st minute. Salah put Liverpool ahead by scoring the second goal for the home team in the 25th minute, maintaining his lead as the top scorer of the Premier League this season with 15 goals, six goals ahead of his closest competitors Jamie Vardy from Leicester City and his teammate Diogo Jota.

With this goal, Salah equaled the record for the most contributions to goals in 15 consecutive Premier League matches alongside Jamie Vardy, who achieved the same feat while leading Leicester to their only Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season. Trent Alexander-Arnold snuffed out Newcastle's hopes of at least securing a point by scoring Liverpool’s third goal in the 88th minute.

Salah has solidified his lead in the Premier League top scorers' list with 15 goals, six goals clear of Jamie Vardy, who is in second place with 9 goals.
